Pastors and Churches of the Alabama State Missionary Baptist Convention, 

Selma University has reduced the more than $1 million debt to $400,000! The catalyst for our progress has been your generous, sacrificial support. We give God thanks and praise for your faithfulness. In an effort to continue reducing the debt, the ASMBC is partnering with Pastor D. J. Manuel, author of  “GROW: 7 Spiritual Practices to Grow Your Faith” to use this book as a fundraiser for Selma. Through this project, we can bless Selma with $100,000 or more while increasing Christian Education, discipleship, and outreach in our churches.

Here’s how the fundraiser works:

We’re asking each church to purchase a minimum of 50 books for $5.00 per book ($250.00). Churches will be asked to sell the books for $15.00 to their members and others in the community. Once the books are sold, the church can retain their original $250.00 ($5.00 per book). We’re asking the churches to pledge the additional $10.00 per book collected ($500.00) to the ASMBC for Selma. When 200 churches participate in this effort with 50 books each, the pledges total $100,000!

Here are ways churches can use “GROW”:

1. “GROW” can be used as a curriculum for Bible studies. Each Pastor will receive a Teaching Guide to help them prepare.
2. “GROW” can be used for new members classes. The book covers basic spiritual disciplines every believer needs to grow in their faith.
3. “GROW” can be used to launch new ministries. This book can be used to bring a groups together such as men’s, women’s, young adults, and youth.
4. “GROW” can be used as an outreach tool to invite others to attend studies. Church members can be encouraged to purchase extra books to be used when inviting non-members to attend studies.
5. “GROW” can be used for Christian Education courses, conferences, workshops, and retreats. Each chapter can command the attention of audiences for individual sessions.

Here’s how to get started with the Selma GROW Fundraiser:

• Order a minimum of 50 books from Pastor D. J. Manuel for $5.00 per book.
• Encourage members to purchase the books for $15.00 per book. 
• Once all books are sold, each church may keep their original purchase price of $5.00 per book. 
• The remaining $10.00 per book, leftover from the book sales, is donated to the ASMBC for Selma.
