How it started

I started praying via text on Sunday mornings for a pastor friend of mine who planted a church in another state. Gradually, I began to send prayers to other pastors in my inner circle. The turning point came when I was introduced to a pastor who heard about the prayers. He said “I want that too!” He then took my cell phone from my hand (without asking) and put his number in my contacts.

That’s when I realized many pastors need prayer. They need prayer from a pastor’s perspective. They need to be prayed for by someone who understands their multifaceted challenges. So I searched all of my ministry contacts and started praying for them all every Sunday morning. Since that time numerous pastors have shared with me how the Sunday morning Prayers For Pastors has helped them and encouraged them.

I invite you to join the list and receive Prayers for Pastors. Even if you’re not currently pastoring, every minister of the Gospel is welcomed. I send the prayers to each pastor individually so you won’t be disturbed by responses in a group text. Prayers are sent Sunday mornings between 6:00am and 7:00am CST. Feel free to read the sample prayer and use the form to sign up.

I look forward to praying for you.

Sample Prayer

Lord,All of creation declares you are holy. The roar of the oceans and the blasts of turbulent winds declare you are mighty. We join with creation and glorify your great name. For you are our creator, redeemer, and friend. We do not walk alone in this ministry. You speak to our hearts, guide our thoughts, and temper our words. You shield us from the scorching heat and the scathing criticisms of our detractors. You sustain our feeble bodies to be used in your service.

Thank you Lord. For all these things and more, thank you. Thank you for the courage to move forward even when we feel discouraged and inadequate. Thank you for being merciful to us during our preparations when we struggled to fully grasp your will and word. Thank you for being our anchor when we were holding on by a thread and suffered in silence. You were there for us when we didn’t have anyone to call upon. Your Holy Spirit made intercession for us when we didn’t have the words to pray for ourselves.

Nobody loves us like you God. Nobody is more faithful than you. Your love for us is all consuming. And like a child that is buoyed by the love of a father, we will walk boldly into our purpose. We will stand with confidence because of our Father’s love. We will speak with conviction because we have tasted the bitterness of our Father’s loving correction. We will preach with joy knowing the mercy and power of our Father’s forgiveness. As we go forward to minister today, grant us prophetic utterance and priestly grace. Help us make you proud Abba Father. In Jesus’s name, Amen 🙏🏾
