Vindicate Your Change

“For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter.” (2 Corinthians 7:11 NKJV)

One of the most difficult aspects of making life changes is the memory of our past faults. The new you takes time to establish while those around you look for proof that the old you is gone. The real issue here is trust. While you become more consistent with your change others are watching. They want to know if they can trust the new you. They want to know if it will stick.

To make your repentance and life changes stick, put some energy into vindicating yourself. Vindication is what happens when you avenge or justify yourself. Each time the new you is attacked or belittled you will have to avenge your honor. Let your actions and words continue to prove your innocence even in the face of a questionable past. Be aggressive in doing good and clearing your name from the stain of your past.

  1. Amen. That is so hard to do. It is hard enough to make a change without others watching you.
Just pray and let God help you to make the change in your life.
