“Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. (1 Corinthians 7:3 NKJV)”
Do you know when you’re full of love and affection? Do you know when your spouse is full? Husbands and wives have a responsibility to render “due affection” to each other to keep each other full. Due affection may come in many forms and flavors like listening, quality time, gifts, kind words, physical intimacy, acts of service and more.
Sometimes it takes a lot of work and sacrifice to prepare enough samples throughout the day to keep your spouse full but the payoff is priceless. In our marriage I work hard to be kind and listen to my wife so she will feel full. So I don’t have to worry about her being attention starved and seeking someone else to fill that part of her life. Likewise, it’s easier for her to give me due affection when she isn’t focused on her own emptiness.
